French Guinea Keets

Guinea Fowl originated in the dry regions of Africa, and were introduced to the United States before the Civil War. The demand for Guinea Hens is increasing as they are becoming known for their tender, lean meat. J.M. Hatchery imports their breeding stock of Guinea Fowl from France. This French Guinea breed is often raised for meat as the birds grow twice as fast and are about 2 pounds heavier than the common Guinea Fowl. Their dark meat is demanded by many restaurants.
Guinea Hens have a standing reputation for their "watch dog" personalities and for their helpfulness in reducing the insect population, including ticks. The delicatelly speckled eggs hatch into young birds called "keets." Keets mature into birds known for their unique ornamental value. After the keets have grown past two weeks old, they are one of the hardiest domestic fowl.

Nice guineas
"I had bad luck with guineas before -- bad temperaments, attacking my chickens. When I asked you, you didn't know whether the temperaments of your birds would be any better. I took a chance on the French guineas, and so far, so good. They leave the chickens alone.

They are less fearful than my previous flock, roost in the woodshed, and in about a month of free-ranging have apparently eliminated ticks from the world as we know it. Only one loss out of 26, due to an accident at 2 weeks -- no losses to predators since they've been out.

They love to follow the mower catching bugs, and this is rather endearing."

Very Satisfied
"I received my shipment of 30 guineas two days after ordering. They were all active and healthy. They still are and are so amusing. This was my first experience ordering poultry and everyone was so personable and helpful. Thanks."

Love my keets
"In late October I recieved my first order ever of guinea keets. I ordered 15 keets and 16 were shipped in the order, all are doing great and all lived. I am amazed at the quality and growth rate of these birds. They are only 8 weeks old and they are the size of small ducks already. Thanks JM Hatchery. I will be sure to order more from you in the future."

Great birds
"We ordered 15 guinea keets along with 25 baby chicks. They all arrived in good shape. We only lost a handful of them in the early weeks. We followed the instructions to keep the keets away from the chicks for the first 2 weeks. The keets seemed TINY at first. Now, after about 8 weeks, they are so hardy and energetic and beautiful! The French chickens are doing great too and we are preparing to get up the nerve to make them into the "broilers" we bought them to be. We have bought baby chicks before, but this was the most uncomplicated, easy transaction yet. We are just tickled with all the birds and will definitely order from J&M again when we need more. As for the guineas, they haven't yet displayed the characteristic LOUD behavior yet, but maybe once they have free roam in the yard they will. Only time will tell."

Another Satisfied Customer
"The keets arrived healthy with an extra one as well. Customer service has been great. (I had to push back the shipping date twice). There were no hassles or complaints, thanks for working with me on that. I am definitely a satisfied customer."

Comment: Awesome Keets
"Ordered 200 keets arrived quickly with no mortalities. Extras were also sent. Thanks so much for the great keets. Have already ordered another batch and am quite sure they will be fine too. Very hardy right away they were drinking sugar water and eating. 2 thumbs up from a satisfied buyer."

Best Guinea Fowl Keets
"We had a tick problem on our farm. Ordered 25 keets from JM Hatchery. Received 26 robust two day old birds. All lived. The birds where healthy and smart, after 10 weeks they easily learned to roost in our big old Black Walnut tree. The Guinea free roamed and ate every tick within 500 yards of house. Amazing! The kids loved them too. Guinea are fun to watch and dozens of people stopped their cars to take pictures of the big speckled birds on our hill. Thanks Joel. Plan to buy more this spring. Doug B."
